2008 MuchMusic Video Awards

Toronto, ON (CNS) - Sunday night was all about the music, the celebs and the fans at the 19th Annual MuchMusic Video Awards.

Thousands of fans waited it out during a torrential downpour. It rained on the stages, an MMVAs first. The night was "electrifying," according to a press release.

"The bands and celebs delivered an outstanding show, but the screaming fans made the night. This year, thousands of MuchMusic groupies got to reach out and touch their favorite stars," said David Kines, senior vice president of the Much MTV Group, CTV Inc.

Hedley, New Kids On The Block, Rihanna, Girlicious, Simple Plan, Kardinal Offishall featuring Akon, Flo Rida, illScarlett, Sean Kingston and JabbaWockeeZ all performed before thousands of screaming fans.

Chace Crawford, Sum 41, Whitney Port, Sam Roberts, Brody Jenner, Melanie C.,City and Colour, Rainn Wilson, Bedouin Soundclash, Kristin Cavallari and Jesse McCartney were among the stars that walked the red carpet.

After the show, viewers logged online to watch the first ever "MMVAs Aftermath," which featured exclusive performances by Bedouin Soundclash, along with members of Alexisonfire, The Saint Alvia Cartel, and The Arkells. The group performed classics by The Clash, The Kinks, Bruce Springsteen and some Bedouin originals.

Simple Plan, Hedley, Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Rihanna, Sam Roberts, Wintersleep and Belly all won awards.

"The energy topped any and every past MMVAs," said Kines.
